
Evaluation:

An Occupational Therapy evaluation provides a comprehensive overview of your child's strengths as well as any challenges related to their daily activities that my affect their play, learning, or overall daily routines. Areas that can be assessed include:

Motor development

Self-help skills
-
Sensory processing
-
Emotional regulation
-
Behavioral concerns
-
Feeding

What to expect during the evaluation:
-
Play-based activities tailored to your child’s age and needs
-
Observation of motor, sensory, and self-care skills
-
Time for parents or caregivers to share concerns and goals
-
Discussion of findings, recommendations, and next steps
-
A written summary of findings as well as a treatment plan that includes goals and recommended frequency and duration of sessions.
Treatments:

Treatment sessions are typically about 45 minutes, and focus on meeting the goals that were established during the evaluation. Exact frequency and duration of sessions will be determined at the evaluation.

What to expect during treatment sessions:

30-40 minutes of direct treatment, working on your child's specific goals
-
Initial treatment session(s) will focus on getting to know your child and what types of treatment methods work best.

Play based activities geared towards your child's interests
-
Movement based activities to address regulatory needs
-
Floor time and/or tabletop activities to address fine and visual motor skills as well as other motor development needs
-
5-15 minutes of parent/caregiver education as well as time to answer questions and provide recommendations

Consultations & Parent Training:
​​​​​
Consultations are 30 minute sessions that focus on parent, caregiver, and teacher training to help implement child-based strategies to support development.
​
What to expect during consultations:

Working with parents and other adults to educate on your child's current needs
-
Provide strategies to implement at home or in the classroom
​
Strategies may include:

​ Activities to improve motor development
-
Fine and visual motor activities
-
Sensory based activities to support regulation
-
Behavioral strategies to improve following directions and completing routines
-
Strategies to support attention and transitions
-
Strategies to improve participation in social skills

A specialized feeding plan
